Recipe for Sweet Pongal  is derived from Tamil Nadu. It is also called as “Sakkarai Pongal” in Tamil. This dish is prepared on sankranthi, so, it is called as “sankranthi pongal” in Andhra. Preparing this dish is really very easy and it will take half an hour. Lets know “How to make sweet pongal”???

Ingredients for Sakkarai Pongal:

  • 2 cup of Rice,
  • half cup of green gram Dal (moong dal),
  • 1 cup of jaggery smashed well,
  • 8 cup water,
  • 1 cup of greated cocounut
  • 10 to 12 cashewnuts and kismis,
  • 5 tbs of ghee,

We are going to lean how to prepare sweet pongal???

  • If you want to get the perfect sweet rice then you must soak the rice and green gram dal for whole night. ( this will help in smashing the rice very well)
  • Just put this rice + moong dal into the pressure cook add 8 cups of water. You need to cook it for 15 min.
  • Add the smashed jaggery and keep on stirring when it gets melted add the coconut powder and fried cashewnuts and kismis. Ghee can also be added now. Switch of the stove and it can be served hot.
  • This is the easy and quick pongal recipe.
