Diwali Sweets and Snacks

Sweet Appam

Sweet appam is a delicious sweet prepared during diwali. This sweet will be very soft and tasty. They are sure to be liked by all the members in the family. This sweet Appam can be stored for many days and can be consumed.

Ingredients:

Maida Flour – 1 Cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Egg – 2 Nos
Banana – 2 Nos (Small ones)
Elachi – 5 Nos
Ghee – ½ Cup

Preparation:

Take the maida flour in a non-stick vessel and add sugar to it. Make it into batter by adding water to it slowly. Take a cup and beat the eggs well. Add the eggs in the batter and mix well. Crush the bananas well and add them in the batter. Crush the elachi and add them to the batter and mix well. The batter should not be very thick or loose. It should be semi solid. Leave the batter aside for half and hour.

After half an hour take a flat frying pan and heat it. Now take the batter and pour in the pan in the shape of small dosas. The size of the appam should be not bigger than our palm. Pour ghee on top of the appam and to its sides and let it fry well. Turn the appam and fry well the color changes to golden brown.

Once the appam is cooked well remove it from the pan and it is ready to be served. This tender and soft appam will definitely be enjoyed by all the kids and elders. This appam could also be prepared with wheat flour or ragi flour instead of the maida flour. The preparation method is the same for both wheat and ragi flour. This sweet would be a healthy choice too since it contains eggs and banana.

Note : This sweet can be prepared with out the eggs too.
